Project CVO

This 2019 CVO Road Glide was brought to us with simple request, keep the CVO look while improving everything else around it.  Most customers immediately go straight for the motor and say “I want the most power you can get out of this thing”. Although power is important, it wasn’t the immediate focus for owner James Hardin. We discussed how the bike should feel and handle while cornering and at high speeds. With the stock suspension these touring bikes feel splashy and unmanageable in corners. Legend suspension made sure we would have the bike handling the way we should. Legends AXEO front cartridge system and REVO ARC remote reservoirs in the rear parried with a C&S Customs aluminum swing arm gave the bike plenty of ground clearance while completely changing the handling dynamics of the bike. No more front end dive or bucking through corners.  The braking system was the next focus which is something that is constantly overlooked when making upgrades to a bike. A full Beringer Brake system was an easy choice to make. The calipers, rotors and master cylinders work effortlessly at controlling every riding situation. The master cylinders are clean and compact and work so efficiently, one finger clutch and brake pulls are the new normal.  When it comes to handlebar setups, Kraus Motor Co will never let you down. Jim’s CVO was fitted with Kraus isolated kickback risers with Fly Racing moto bars.  Kraus also has one of the cleanest gauge relocation setups on the market. With the kickback on the risers it allows the gauges to be positioned perfectly in view of the rider while maintaining complete view and access to the touch screen media center. With the height and angle of the handlebar setup along with the performance of the brakes and suspension, this Glide feels more like a Dyna on steroids. The handling has improved 100%.  Next we move on to what everyone has been waiting for, the business end of the machine. Over the weeks of discussion between Jim and I we came to the conclusion that he wanted a statement piece on the bike to set himself apart from the average customized bike. One look at the Leading Edge 129 cylinder kit paired with SE cnc ported heads, he was sold.  We then had to make some upgrades to the intake and exhaust system. Horsepower inc products are a must when it comes to increased performance.  Throttle bodies, injectors, air cleaners and exhaust systems are their expertise.  A 62mm throttle body, V2 air cleaner, 6.2 injectors and HPI stainless 2-1 exhaust system worked out perfectly. We couldn’t overlook all the abuse the drivetrain would be taking on this bike and a Baker Grudge Box transmission would take care of that. Followed by a Barnett scorpion lockup clutch system wrapped in a Trask clutch basket and chain drive will handle whatever you throw at it.
